April’s meeting – with Seaview Project

This April, we will be joining our members, Seaview Project, for a behind-the-scenes look at their inspiring work, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Members will be taken on a guided tour of the venue located in St Leonards, and hear from Sue Burgess, Projects Manager, who will give an overview of the charity’s mission and the wide range of services provided.

We will also be hearing from Dave Perry, Chief Officer, who will share updates on Seaview’s new Housing Project, High Banks, that will help people move off the streets and into safe, stable accommodation where they can begin to rebuild their lives.

Dave will also introduce Connect Lived Experience Training, a unique drug and alcohol awareness programme designed and delivered by peer trainers with lived experience of addiction and recovery. These courses are aimed at organisations and employers who want to better support their staff, increase understanding around drugs and alcohol issues, reduce stigma, and feel more confident about how and where to signpost people for help.

Adding a powerful personal perspective, members will also hear directly from one of the Connect trainers, a former Seaview service user, who will share their journey and insights into how lived experience can transform training and awareness in the workplace.

Our April meeting provides a great opportunity for our members to learn about practical, impactful training available to support staff wellbeing, as well as gain a deeper understanding of drugs and alcohol issues that can affect any workplace.

This meeting will take place at Southwater Centre and will include our usual friendly style of informal networking over some breakfast, catered by the Seaview Project kitchen, before we hear from Sue and Dave, with plenty of opportunities to network afterwards.

Getting there: St Leonards Warrior Square train station is a 4-minute walk via Southwater Road. Alternatively, if you are travelling by car, the closest parking places are St Leonards Warrior Square Car Park (RingGo) or on-road parking down nearby roads
