Hastings Contemporary is an independent, award-winning art gallery on the historic Stade in Hastings Old Town. From our striking seafront building, we present ambitious exhibitions by leading modern and contemporary artists, bringing exceptional art and new ideas to audiences in Hastings and beyond.

Our work is rooted in place. Through our evolving Ocean Futures mission, we explore the relationship between art, the sea, the environment and the communities that live alongside it. We aim to inspire curiosity, encourage conversation and create opportunities for people of all ages to engage with creativity and the world around them.

The gallery plays an active role in the local community through schools and learning programmes, family activities, artist-led projects, volunteering and partnerships with community organisations. We are committed to making Hastings Contemporary welcoming, relevant and accessible, while supporting the cultural and economic life of the town.

Hastings Contemporary is also a distinctive venue for meetings, receptions, away days, launches, talks and private events. Our light-filled spaces offer an inspiring setting overlooking the sea, with options ranging from smaller meeting rooms to larger spaces for corporate and community events. Bespoke gallery tours and catering through our on-site restaurant, coquina, can also be arranged.

Businesses can get involved by hiring our spaces, becoming members, joining our 1066 Club, sponsoring exhibitions and projects, or working with us through creative partnerships.
