Additional Meeting: Tackling Disorderly Behaviour and Crime with Sussex Police

The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce is holding an additional meeting this October, where we will be welcoming representatives from Sussex Police and Hastings Borough Council to discuss disorderly behaviour and crime, and its impact on our local community. Free to attend, this meeting is open to all businesses across Hastings & St Leonards, whether you are a member of our business network or not.

This meeting follows growing concerns raised with us by both our members and businesses across the local area, who have shared with us the impact of public safety issues, antisocial behaviour, and suspected drug activity affecting their day-to-day operations.

In response, the Chamber is bringing together Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council, and local business representatives to discuss these issues openly and begin building a coordinated, practical response. This meeting is supported by the Safer Hastings Partnership (SHP), and any issues raised will be shared with SHP partners – including Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service – to help inform a wider, joined-up response across the town.

The meeting will cover:

• Hearing directly from Sussex Police and Hastings Borough Council about current initiatives and enforcement activity
• An open discussion for businesses to share their concerns and experiences
• Identifying opportunities for better communication and partnership working between businesses, police and the council
• Exploring how local businesses can be supported and involved in future action to improve safety and confidence across Hastings and St Leonards

Getting there: Hastings train station is a 15-minute walk. Alternatively, if you are travelling by car, the closest car parks are St Margaret’s Road Car Park (RingGo), Carlisle Parade Car Park (RingGo), or Priory Meadow Multi-Storey Car Park (pay on exit).
